Role
Principal UX Designer
Scope
I led end-to-end UX and visual design for multiple browser extension experiences, working closely with product and engineering to design patterns that were technically feasible, easy to maintain, and effective across different merchants and partner programs. I designed browser extensions that surface rewards and savings at the moment of purchase—operating within tight technical constraints while still delivering clarity, trust, and real value. This work required translating complex platform logic into lightweight, highly contextual experiences that feel seamless rather than intrusive.
Loyalty programs browser extensions need to clearly allow users to flow through all states of use: activation, merchant price comparisons, coupon code activation, and my account information, all in an unobtrusive but eye catching web browser experience.
The challenge was to:
surface relevant rewards without interrupting or distracting users
communicate value instantly, with minimal explanation
build trust in a moment where users are cautious and time-constrained
work within rigid technical and visual constraints
drive adoption and continued usage without overwhelming users
Given the constraints, the focus was on clarity, restraint, and timing.
Key principles included:
Context over persistence — show up only when relevant
Immediate comprehension — value must be clear in seconds
Trust-first design — avoid anything that feels ad-like or invasive
Consistency with the platform — extensions should feel like a natural extension of the broader product ecosystem
