Role
Lead Designer
Scope
I led UX and visual design across institutional websites, working closely with stakeholders to define information architecture, page systems, and visual hierarchy. I partnered with content, marketing, and technical teams to ensure designs were usable, accessible, and sustainable beyond launch.I led design for higher-education websites serving multiple audiences with very different needs—prospective students, current students, parents, faculty, and internal stakeholders. The work focused on organizing complex information into clear, approachable experiences that support decision-making, discovery, and trust.
Higher-education websites are among the most content-dense and politically complex digital products. They must communicate brand, credibility, and student life—while also supporting deep informational needs and internal requirements.
The challenge was to:
organize large volumes of content without overwhelming users
serve multiple audiences with different goals and levels of familiarity
balance marketing needs with institutional clarity and usability
ensure accessibility and consistency across pages and templates
create systems that internal teams can maintain over time
Given the complexity, the work centered on clarity and restraint.
Key principles included:
Audience awareness — different users need different entry points
Hierarchy over volume — structure content so users can scan and self-select
Consistency across templates — reduce cognitive load and maintenance burden
Accessibility by default — ensure inclusive, readable experiences
